Camelot Unchained: Rock-Paper-Scissor class balance

Marc Jacobs  – the game developer, not the fashion designer – shared some more information on his upcoming 3 side PvP MMORPG Camelot Unchained. On his latest Dev Blog  he details the balancing method used in the game.  He says that the effort to carefully balance classes has proved a detriment to the industry, and as such, Camelot Unchained will pursue a rock-paper-scissors structure.

The reasons behind this decision is  “[Rock-paper-scissors] lends an element of unpredictability and it gives us so much more freedom to explore different classes/abilities without worrying about having everything equally balanced 100% all the time” Jocobs says.

Marc Jacobs finishes his post by stating that City State Entertainment is adapting CCP’s (Eve Online) development model: “Start small, iterate and then build, baby, build.”
